Mindfulness is an awareness of self, others and the world around us… that enables us to take control of our mind and therefore take control of our life. This awareness develops from focusing our attention in three fundamental ways: 1. In the moment… 2. On purpose… & 3. Without judgement. However just practicing in this way alone ultimately limits our potential. Cultivating the Fundamental Attitudes are deemed essential to produce the transformational qualities and ultimate benefits living a Mindful life promises. These empowering Fundamental Attitudes… which embody curiosity… kindness & patience to name a few… help us to respond to difficult events, emotions & thoughts with less reaction, more ease & healthier outcomes that support our true values.
The programmes showcased below have been designed to deliver the fundamentals of Mindfulness through theory, practices and techniques. Any participant fully engaging in the programme and embracing the core principles will embark on a Mindfulness journey that is ultimately life-empowering… life-changing and life-long.
[Whilst commencing or cultivating your Mindfulness journey… you can find below Guided Mindfulness Practice Audio Tracks which we have prepared & invite you to use to develop your attentional skills and awareness while encouraging and enhancing your Mindfulness practice.]
Most of us live life on autopilot… this essentially means there is no human operator at the controls. Life is happening but because we are not fully aware we are not fully in control. Rarely being in the present in experiencing what is right here right now… we miss the simple joy of the present moment expecting the joy to happen at some point in the future. But if we are unable to be present now… how are we going to be present then? It is rehearsing the future that creates our worries and stress & rehashing the past (usually regretfully) that underlies depression. Learning to focus our attention on the present moment… with kindness and without judgement… relieves stress*, worry, depression & anxiety, as well as intense emotions such as anger, guilt & shame. Through the inextricable connection between our mind and our physiology – primarily the neural and endocrine (hormonal) systems – this present-moment focus of attention engenders an increase in clarity, peace & contentment… thereby creating a life that is rewarding… of our choosing… & in our control.
[*NOTE: Stress contributes to many adverse physiological and psychological health conditions, therefore effective stress-management is vital for optimal health.]

The second module concentrates on Mindfulness to help you understand your ‘habits of mind’ and how to become your best self. This 6-week Workshop can be followed by 2 optional elements: 1) 1-1 sessions (2 or more per participant dependent on requirement) to address any unresolved presenting issues; 2) monthly experiential Mindfulness group to continue and reinforce practice as well as offer space to explore current challenges.

This presentation was originally commissioned and written especially to honour black history as part of a Black History Month celebratory event.
“Healing the Enslaved Mind” focuses on the psychological and emotional link of slavery throughout the last 600 years to today’s contemporary Afro-Caribbean race to give enlightenment on healing the wounded enslaved mind. There is an immense body of data that highlights a high incidence of mental illness amongst this population; this workshop focuses on building self-esteem, self-confidence and a strong sense of identity that may be considered damaged due to the generational effects of what Dr DeGruy termed as PTSS… Post Traumatic Slave Syndrome!
“Brilliant presentation by Helen… so inspirational and educational… an exceptionally good motivational talk” – S. Robertson; Hexagon Black History Celebration of Health, Healing & Happiness
We get angry for various reasons related to events, experiences, thoughts, feelings, attitudes and behaviours. The question is: “Why do we get angry in the first place?”
Well, the simple answer is… because we are human. Anger is a normal, human emotion. However, it is the response to our anger that often gets us into trouble, when it is irrational, inappropriate and unjustified. In this 9-hour training programme, run over 3-4 sessions, you will explore and understand the root and the triggers to your anger… discover the relationship between brain chemistry and the emotional response… and develop techniques to assist in managing and maintaining healthier responses to anger.
“Helen was highly competent in balancing the needs of the individuals with the need to cover the topics and progress clients’ understanding and learning.” – P. Reynolds; PT Manager, DARA
